The Laowa Probe Zoom lens series is currently the widest probe zoom lens series on the market, meticulously crafted for filmmakers seeking for the most unique and immersive perspectives that normal probe or probe zoom lenses cannot achieve.
The 15-35mm model offers the longest zoom range (2.3x) and the longest tube length in its class, unlocking underwater and creative flexibility. The widest 15mm full-frame perspective and super close working distance (5mm from the subject) allow filmmakers to capture tiny details which are previously unattainable in expansive environments. With a long and waterproof barrel, an ultra-wide perspective, and up to 2.3x magnification, this lens excels in challenging environments, including underwater, and confined spaces.
The versatility makes it especially useful for commercial projects, wildlife filming, and cinematic storytelling, where both macro-level details and wider environmental context are crucial. By combining the versatility of a zoom lens with the immersive perspective of a probe lens, the Laowa Probe Zoom Macro Lens redefines creative possibilities with flexibility and innovation.
The Laowa Probe Zoom consists of two parts: the front barrel and the zoom module:
- The single lenses are a unit comprised of a lens with a pre-matched module (front barrel + zoom module)
- The bundle consists of 4 front barrels (with different functions) + 2 zoom modules.
The front barrel can be selected from four options
- Direct view – The usual probe lens perspective
- Periscope – This new lens provides an extensive periscope view parallel to the camera, rendering the subjects at different elevations as you look through the viewfinder
- 35° view – Providing a 35-degree view for cinematic high-angle and low-angle shots without tilting the camera
- 90° view – Shooting unique angles like side shots or looking up/down without tilting the camera
Important note: The front and rear components are pre-matched and pre-calibrated to ensure optical performance. You cannot mix and match barrels between different modules, and each lens must be purchased as a complete unit.
