This camera slider carriage allows you to operate on smooth flat surfaces (such as a counter top or glass table) as well as on pipe as shown below. MicroWheel camera slider wheels will run on any smooth pipe with an outside diameter between 1″ & 2″.In addition to the variety of styles of movement you can achieve with this kit, you always have the ability to increase functionality by adding different parts. For example, you can add 2 RigAxels with inline wheels to configure RigSkate. Add a second RigPlate or a RigAxel with MircoWheels and you can configure a captive rail camera dolly.MicroWheels are mounted to the RigPlate with common 5/16″ OR 8mm bolts. As often as possible, common parts and hardware are used in Rigwheels products to give customers the ability to modify and come up with different configurations.
This portable camera slider travels extremely well. With the MicroWheels removed, the flat 5/16″ thick RigPlate can fit in many common places like a laptop pocket. The 4 MicroWheels pack into their included travel bag are about the size of a portable hard drive.
Pipe and tube for track can be found at most any hardware store. PVC pipe works well for applications when the pipe will be on the ground or a solid surface. Aluminum and steel pipe/tube are recommended for suspended camera dolly applications.

The MicroWheel Stage 2 combines 6 MicroWheels, 1 RigPlate and 1 RigAxel to make a captive rail linear slider. The captive carriage configuration makes your camera much more secure by locking it onto the rails. This setup also allows you to position the carriage/rails at any angle; just the trick for vertical or slanted moves. This kit offers a similar captive rail option to the MicroWheel Stage 3 carriage at a lower price but is not as suitable for handling vertical and angled movement.

Sections are 40″ (1 meter) long and can be screwed together seamlessly via the threaded connectors. These rails are constructed from high grade 6061 aluminum which is much stronger than the architectural aluminum that is sometimes used for similar applications. The stronger material provides much more rigidity which means a more solid system with very little flex. At 80″ the camera slider rails have less than 1/8″ of flex with a 40 pound load placed at the center. Each piece goes through a 6 step process to make them straight enough and round enough for precision camera movement. 4 sections total (80″ per side) is typical for most setups but you can add as many sections as you need for longer shots. This product can also be used with many other suspended or ground-rail systems that work with a similar OD. The outside diameter is 1.65″ (41.9mm).

If you want to DIY your own end-brackets you can purchase just RailDolly carriage and get the same smooth movement as in more complete systems.The RailDolly Carriage has a large footprint and provides great stability when using a full-size cameras.The RailDolly is also a good option for critical audio recording because operation is silent with it’s semi-soft wheels. This configuration uses one RigPlate, two RigAxles and two different types of skate wheels.
The RailDolly Camera Slider can also be used on square or rectangular rails. Square/rectangular rails are much more rigid at long lengths than tube/pipe so if you’re going to be putting a BIG camera rig in motion this is an ideal option.
With the components in this kit you can also configure our RigSkate so you get 2 great options for movement.
If attaching a ball mount tripod head you will need one of our Bowl Mount Adapters. This configuration also included the parts to configure our RigSkate so you get 2 great options for movement
